About us

OUR JOURNEY WITH GOD

Crossway Community Church was born out of the mission focus of Grace Tabernacle Ministries, Visakhapatnam. I was serving in the Indian Navy and while one of my postings to Visakhapatnam, I heard God telling me that Visakhapatnam is the place of my destiny. Heeding to what God spoke to me, we decided that Visakhapatnam is the place where we will settle after my retirement from service. Accordingly, after my retirement from service we relocated to Visakhapatnam in 1999 and become part of Grace Tabernacle Ministries. Grace Tabernacle is an Evangelical Charismatic Church and is a very mission minded Church. GTM is involved in the mission of Bible Translation as well as Church Planting activities.

In 2002, during our annual Church family camp, there was a prophetic word of direction for the church to plant Churches outside Visakhapatnam in strategic places. In heeding to the prophetic word, the Pastor and the elders asked us to pray and consider a move to Hyderabad for an urban Church planting mission. We agreed to pray and wait on God for His direction on the matter. As we prayed and waited on God as a family, we heard clearly Gods calling on us for a Church Planting Mission to Hyderabad. Having affirmed by the Lord and heard His clear call on our lives, we responded to the Church agreeing to move to Hyderabad on an urban Church Planting Mission.

In preparation to the move, I came with my Senior Pastor for a survey of the city in May 2003 and finally we moved to the city in June 2003. Immediately we started with a youth activity which translated into informal service on Sunday in our home a month later.

In the month of August 2003, we had an official inauguration of the Church. While we were, considering and praying about the move, God impressed upon my heart Gal.6:14 which speaks about boasting on the cross. This gave me an inspiration to name the Church “Crossway Community Church”- a community of people who will ever boast on the cross of Christ.

As we began our journey, we had 8 youngsters beside us. We had our struggles without musicians and committed people in the early days. We had our first baptism service in the month of August and it was of great joy to see six young people take their baptism. God started adding families a year later and we had our first family seminar in 2005 and that led to getting connected to many more families and they being added to the Church. Church started to grow as the Lord started to build it and by His glory we started two more Churches in the city through these years and the last being in May 2015.

Majority of the members the Church are under the age of 35. We have a cosmopolitan crowd representing the middle class. We really see the hand of God leading and guiding us supernaturally in our journey and we give glory to Him for His call on our lives. We feel privileged and honored as we cherish this dear close knit family.

In Christ,
C.V.Jose and Annie
